COVID 19 : Smoking affects the function of the lung. It does decrease your chances of a good outcome from any lung infection. COVID 19: Agree with Dr. Romano. Smoking does not likely increase infection rate. However, anything that compromises the lungs (such as smoking) can impact how well a person fights the infection.
