what causes trigger thumb? is it serious?

1 doctor answer
Dr. Shitel Patel
13 years experience Plastic Surgery
Trigger thumb: Trigger fingers are more common with certain medical conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout and diabetes. Repeated and strong gripping may lead to the condition. In most cases, the cause of the trigger finger is not known. Trigger thumb can also be something you are born with. You can see treatments of steroids injections versus surgery. See a hand surgeon once covid resolves!
