50: Unless you have a strong family history or symptoms of decreased urine flow, screening for prostate cancer usually begins at age 45-50. A blood test called a "psa" is checked, as well as a rectal exam to palpate, or feel, the prostate gland are done first. If there is a problem this is usually followed up with a prostate ultrasound.

Age 50: Prostate ca before age 50 in the us is uncommon. Median age here is 68. However, if you have a strong family history, consume a high fat meat rich diet, drink large amounts of milk or other dairy products or use other substances such as tobacco an alcohol and/or are obese, you should watch for changes in urine flow or blood, and get tested if these occur before age 50. Veges, fruits & soy help.

Depends: Prostate cancer typically occurs in older patients. Screening is usually performed with the prostate specific antigen test (psa). However before choosing to undergo screening, it is important to understand the possible outcomes of this testing. Not all prostate cancers are life threatening and treatment carries some risks of its own.
