Yes: Depends on the severity of symptoms of acid reflux for example. Prilosec (PPI) and Pepcid (H2 blocker) are different classes of medications, I.e. they help one’s symptoms by different mechanisms. I have used the combination on a few patients who have continued severe symptoms despite use of either medication alone for a short period of time. Mainly used for patients that need extra help.

Having a reflux episode. Burning throat waking me up & clearing etc. Diet & stress to blame. Started taking 2 20mg otc Pepcid. How long is safe to take or should I do prilosec or nexium for 2 weeks to hopefully clear it out. Doc appt is weeks away?
