Antibiotics: Severe urinary tract infection is not a definable medical term. Uti's are generally bladder or kidney infections. Severe pyelonephritis can be associated with bacteria in the blood stream. Urinary tract infections require antibiotic treatment. 3 days treatment will usually cure an uncomplicated bladder infection while 14 days treatment are needed for a kidney infection.
