Where ?: E coli is a germ common to the digestive tract of all humans & many animals. There are a few strains that trigger problems in the digestive tract while most do not. When found in the urine it is abnormal. Fasting has nothing to do with whether or not you get an E.coli UTI.

Fasting: Will not influence a possible infection, suppose it was urinary, hydration and/or lack of proper hydration may. Not sure if that answered your question.
