A member asked:

I took levonorgestrel once in january and oncr february cycle then took ella one in march? three cycles. will this affect my periods so much? like make them super irregular

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe. Maybe not.: Emergency contraception pills can alter the menstrual for the cycle in which they were taken, and sometimes the next cycle too. One should be sure to check a home pregnancy test about 3 weeks after sex, because emergency contraception pills work most of the time, but not all the time. Also, be sure to consider a reliable form of birth control, so that one will never need emergency pills again.
