My son keeps getting a cough from post nasal drip , the mucus is in the back of throat not the nose and it is affecting his speech, is this an allergy?

Post nasal drip: While post nasal drip can certainly cause cough, what's important to figure out is what is causing the post nasal drip. Allergies are one cause certainly and should be looked for. Allergy testing is available in various forms. Another common cause of post nasal drip is reflux. Primary lung problems like asthma can also present with cough. He needs to be evaluated to sort out his difficulties.

Allergy may be cauus: Post nasal drip can be caused by a common cold and other viral upper Resiratory infections and Allergies as well. it is often associated with cough& sometimes Hoarseness of voicel.If it is due to common cold it will get better by itself in few days.But if it is due to allergies it may persists and Allergy Tests needs to be done or a trial of Antihistamine given.Swallowing disorder can rarely cause
