Yes: That's generally how it's diagnosed. Someone presents with chest pain, and we do the important thing first which is to exclude more serious causes. If your physical exam then is consistent with this diagnosis, then that's what your doctor will tell you. We usually treated with warm compresses, and anti-inflammatory agents. Sometimes when it's very cute will actually use an ice pack.
