Different viruses: SARS-CoV-2 is a novel COVID virus. The flu can be made up of a number of different influenza viruses (none of which are currently novel). COVID 19 disease is more contagious and has a higher death rate than the flu. There are vaccines for seasonal influenza but none at this time for COVID 19. At this time, we dont know if COVID 19 will be seasonal or not.
