Why assume that ?: Kids do get covid-19 but their bodies appear not to react the same as adults or the elderly. Studies suggest 50% or possibly more can have the disease, develop immunity and never show any symptoms. Diseases sometimes work that way.

Get it but not sick: Children definitely “get” the virus & thus can spread it to others even without symptoms. As to why children don’t seem to get serious symptoms very often, it is likely a difference in immunity. The reverse is something like RSV virus, which can be carried by older children & adults who may show nothing but mild cold symptoms, but can pass it to an infant who can have sever respiratory sympts
