Unlikely: Levothyroxine levels can be affected by foods & many things, but unlikely to be affected by vitamin D at reasonable doses (1000-5000 units/day).

OK: There are no interactions between levothyroxine and vitamin D

A 21-year-old member asked:

Do I need to give vitamin d supplements to infants who are fed infant formula?

Dr. Jessica Davis

No: Formula has added vitamin d. The recommended daily amount of vitamin d for infants is 400 iu daily. Infants drinking formula only should be meeting this requirement. If the baby is partially breastfed, a vitamin d supplement should be added to make sure they get 400 iu daily.

When I take my baby outside, I always cover all of his skin with sunscreen, just as the aap recommends. Isnt that enough to protect him from cancer and yet give him vitamin d?

No: If you block the rays that burn, you're blocking the rays that help you make vitamin d. Use a vitamin d supplement.

Give them a try: Pain is a tricky problem because so much of it is controlled by the brain. The best thing to do with these vitamins would be to try them and see if you get better. They won't hurt you in the proper doses and may help.

What is the best calcium supplement with vitamin d for a 63-year-old woman?

D3: It seems that the latest information has been that D3 is what is best for the body - also called cholecalciferol. So you want a calcium with d3. Also, magnesium is an important mineral for bone health as well. As far as which supplement is the best, it is very difficult to say. An excellent resource is nutrisearch's comparative guide to nutritional supplements.

For a lot of reasons: Calcium plays a vital role in body function. It regulates muscle contraction, nerve conduction and bone health among others. Both calcium and vitamin d should be taken with a meal ( only exception will be calcium citrate which can be taken on empty stomach).

Provided original answer
With food. On calcium citrate can be taken on empty stimach
