Hi. my 9 month old baby has a fever of 39 degrees or so since yesterday. it goes down when i give her medication but once it wares out the fever comes back. do you think its anything serious?

Some ideas: Kids are relatively easy to assess from across the room on most occasions. If they eat/sleep/play and act pretty normal most of the day the illnesses are usually minor & often self heal. If they lay around/refuse feeds or fluids/don't play or just spook you by their appearance it is more worrisome & requires a visit.
