A member asked:

I have had pvcs for over 20 years. no sustained arrhythmia & no other symptoms. they occur in spurts of being frequent for months & then hardly noticeable. what causes the changes? also, why do they seem to be more frequent after eating?

Hard: to tell. Too much caffeine, stress, less sleep, some medications, alcohol, etc See if comes on when you have a larger meal.

PVC's: Ectopic beats can occur after eating and can be a reaction to distension of the stomach and/ or stimulation of the vagus nerve which slows the heart rate and facilitates leakage of electrical currents in heart cells which then have more time to cause a reentry cycle which then produces a ventricular premature complex or beat. Pvc's tend to disappear with faster heart rates.
