COVID-19 protection: Originally there was a fear that non-medical individuals may buy out masks and respirators that are needed for medical personnel to their jobs. In this country, there currently is a recommendation for face coverings. It also was not clear early on that asymptomatic individuals could still transmit the virus. Our country was slow to recommend mask/ face covering use.
