COVID testing: COVID-19 has an RNA as its genetic material surrounded by protein shells. Based on that, two types of COVID-19 tests developed. The most common one is to detect RNA nucleic acid using PCR based technology. The other one measures specific antibodies body produced against COVID-19. There are two kinds of antibodies, IgM and IgG. IgM usually means current infection. IgG means past infection.
