It depends: It depends on the severity of the bronchitis. Meds used include antibiotics, bronchodilators and prednisone.

Acute or chronic?: Acute bronchitis is almost always viral. Recurrent or recrudescent bronchitis is usually associated with smoking or environmental pollution. The management will differ depending upon what is going on. See a doctor and get evaluated and appropriately managed. Good luck.

Depends....: There are 2 types of bronchitis: acute and chronic, each with different therapies. Acute bronchitis is usually due to either a bacterial or viral infection of the airways. The bacterial infection is treated with antibiotics while the viral infection is treated symptomatically only as antibiotics don't treat viruses. Chronic bronchitis, a form of copd, is treated w/ inhalers, oxygen if needed, etc.
