Coronavirus lives: New coronavirus may live on surfaces for a few hours or a few days depending on the type of surface, temperature or humidity. One report indicated that new coronavirus can survive on hard surfaces for up to 72 hours and on cardboard for up to 24 hours.

COVID 19: Yes, COVID 19 can be transmitted on public transport. How long it lives largely depends on what surfaces the virus is on. Per WEBMD, the virus may live on stainless steel - 2 to 3 days, a # of other metals -5 days, Aluminum - 2 to 8 hrs, Copper - 4 hrs, wood - 4 days, plastic -2 to 3 days, cardboard - 24 hrs & glass - up to 5 days.
