A member asked:

If someone is taking medication on a daily basis for headaches or something else, how can they protect themselves from liver damage and kidneys being damaged?

Kidney, liver: Basically you must follow the directions regarding dosing. With acetomenophen avoid alcohol while taking it to avoid liver damage. With NSAID's like ibuprofen or naproxen, use sparingly if you have high blood pressure to avoid kidney damage. Don't take supplements which are not investigated as they may contain toxins.

Don't exceed dosages: Nonsteroidals and paracetamol are safe when used correctly in the recommended dosages in most people. It may be important to also take into account the other meds or drugs you are taking to see if they are also hepatotoxic or nephrotoxic. Do not mix with alcohol. Do not exceed recommended dosages and make sure you are also well hydrated.
