Sinusitis: You don't describe your symptoms. Sinusitis often follows a head cold that lingers with eventual development of headache or cheek discomfort, persistent nasal discharge of discolored mucus which may be blood tinged. In cases where sinus congestion and blockage of mucus drainage occurs, headache is common. Antibiotics, irrigation of nasal passages, steam inhalation are prescribed.

Doctor can evaluate: Bacterial (not viral) sinusitis is treated with antibiotics to kill bacteria in the sinuses, plus a decongestant (often a combination such as Claritin-D or Zyrtec-D), and a steroid nasal spray such as mometasone to shrink some of the swelling inside the nose... to allow the sinuses to properly drain. Persistent sinusitis symptoms may need longer courses of antibiotics or an ENT exam.
