Some just realize the symptoms don't require obvious sensation of bringing up stomach material into the throat or nose as silent reflux. The heartburn remains & would be treated the same. Chronic symptoms unresponsive to meds might lead to an invasive study,(esophagoscopy) but otherwise they are treated the same.
