Don't know.: Cerebral palsy is a disorder that causes abormal control of muscles that is due to an injury to a developing brain. This includes injuries from before birth up until age 8 years. The types of injuries are numerous and include genetic disorders, infections, strokes before or after birth, near-drownings, traumatic injuries, child abuse, etc. Most of these cannot be predicted before birth.

Low: The largest group of newborns(45, 000) followed for 7 years in the collaborative perinatal project gave an incidence of 4/1000 births.Interestingly, most had a history of a normal pregnancy, labor and delivery, so the exact reason for their problem was unclear.
