A member asked:

If you are a healthcare work who mantoux test positive (>10mm) from south africa with a high tb rate do you need treatment for latent tb? asymptomatic and chest x-ray normal

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Local call: Here in the USA they would have a chest x-ray and treatment based on the findings. Negative x-ray findings would lead to a basic usually 1 drug treatment for a defined period. A positive X-ray would lead to multi-drug treatment & isolation until they were found not contagious. There is likely a protocol followed by your countries docs. Contact the local health department for their answers.
