Unknowable: Any break in the skins surface can be contaminated with tetanus spores or other germs that could lead to serious infections/death. Most never do if cleaned & monitored. Healing time varies with the type of injury & any complications. If the site becomes red/drains/swells,etc. you may want a doc to look at it.
