A member asked:

Why does my 11year old boy get mumps every year? this is the third year in a row. his blood results came out positive again today. this time its the 3de year in a row having mumps. any advice what can cause this?

Confusing post: Standard testing of IgG antibody for mumps would always be positive for anyone who had it or the vaccine. IgM antibody would not but the post is not clear on how you label this mumps. Kids with recurrent parotid gland infections can do so with a variety of viruses and some bacteria. I would consult an infectious disease specialist to see if this is really recurrent mumps.
