See below: Mumps does not cause swelling of the neck. It causes swelling of the salivary glands, which are near the cheeks and jaw line. Also, mumps is very rare, and if your cousin has been immunized, it is highly unlikely. In addition, he should not have had recurrent episodes. I would get a second opinion.
