A member asked:

I am 8 weeks pregnant and i only have my first gynae appointment in a weeks time and i wanted to find out if its ok that i havent taken any pregnancy related supplements?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It is advised to : take supplements, prior to starting a pregnancy, to increase levels of folic acid for example. The time when some supplements are most important, is the first trimester, even before the first doctors visit. This is because the embryo development can be negatively affected, by deficiencies. That being said, a lot of people struggle with nausea making supplements difficult to tolerate.
