Safer to travel by plane but, still have to follow protocol, mask up, avoid big crowds , good handwashing and get vaccinated to prevent you from getting so sick and ending up in the ICU.

Safer than before, providing that you are vaccinated, follow local testing rules and mask properly. Going forward travel will never be guaranteed safe, has never been, our partial knowledge combined with the ever increasing needs to travel and related liability will only make it more and more difficult.

It is safe to travel from a COVID-19 standpoint, but with current discord among passengers, and frequent flight cancellations, the experience may not be a pleasant one.

It is a federal law that all airline passengers over 4 0r 5 must wear a approved face mask when traveling on a plane .Also some airlines require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test 48 hours before flying. If you plan to fly make sure your vaccinated and be aware of who you are sitting next to. Fly with vaccinated friends or family and keep your mask on when you get off of plane.

While it may be safer if you've been fully vaccinated, I'd still recommend wearing a mask and using alcohol sanitizer on armrest, tray table, restroom surfaces you'll be touching, and avoiding close-up conversation with anyone not wearing a mask.
