A member asked:

I have lupus and a mesenteirc artery stent that that requires angioplasty due to restenosis after a year. does having lupus make me at higher risk for restenosis (inflammatory response) to the stent? i am normal weight, good cholesterol, exercise.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes : Lupus is an autoimmune disease, this means that the body's immune system overreacts to an stimulus and starts creating antibodies against certain parts of the body, in the case of lupus is connective tissue. Connective tissue refers to all the parts of the body that are there just to support and serve as scaffold for the other tissues. Yes Lupus would increase the inflammatory response everywhere
