Psych Dx: As you mention, the time varies. You may be given a provisional diagnosis 1st session so that the clinician can think and compare that hypothesis w/other similar diagnoses and send in insurance claims. Some colleagues think in terms of 4 sessions. If there is no clear idea and potential for progress they suggest looking for a therapist who might be a better match. Peace and good health.
