Basics: Pelvic inflammatory disease is most often related to a sexually transmitted germ. However, the moist environment of the female genital tract has a rich supply of food for any germ that makes its way inside.There is a relationship between douching and PID. There are likely other ways a germ can enter the area (masturbation/chance contamination/etc.).

Diagnosed with PID. Got meds&finished it. Retested with pelvic exam which was neg but urine was positive.I am confused? Which is more reliable?
DX PID in Er. Had US and Pap. Pap normal, negative for std/sti. Confused about other possible causes, or was this incorrect dx? No hx endometriosis
My apologies for the earlier confusion. So the 14 days of only doxycycline 2dd should have cured PID caused by chlamydia, even though I had no other type of antibiotics in addition to the doxy?
I feel so confused! In relation to Pelvic Inflammatory disease- will Azithromycin treat this? I don't have chlamydia.
