Diet: If you're very committed to lowering your cholesterol level the best way to do it is to have one visit with a dietician at your local hospital. You will be told your ideal weight and ideal daily calorie intake depending upon your level of physical activity. You will be instructed on what foods to avoid. Your eating habits will be critiqued and you will be given a sample diet.

High cholesterol can be the result of 2 separate processes. A person can be either an overproducer (the body's own production of cholesterol) or an overabsorber (from food). The treatment is different for each one. There are now more advanced tests available to answer this question and to guide the treatment approach. Ask your doctor about them.
