Variable. : If you change diet and activity or start medication today, serum levels will be at equilibrium in 3 months. Further improvements in aerobic fitness and weight loss may continue to improve serum results over time, but a significant segment of the population simply have genetics as the reason for their levels, which therefore will not improve without medical therapy.

Medication or not.: Could be lowered in as little as six weeks with medication, or three to six months with an effective diet and exercise regimen.
