A member asked:

At what point do cigarettes increase the severity of covid-19? i am not an active smoker, but last year (because of the crowd i was hanging around) i smoked about 20 last spring, 7 on one night. could my lung have healed from that after a year?

Avoid smoke: The inflammation caused by smoke exposure may increase the likelihood of a lower respiratory viral infection. Avoid smoke exposure, but the duration since smoking lessens the likelihood that the airway is still inflamed.
