Formula/nursing: Formula or nursing is the primary source of nutrition and fluid for the baby. Water which is sterilized may be given in small amount eg 4 to-6 oz per day. Please discuss specifics of her elimination pattern with your pediatrician.

Define constipation: A breastfed babe can go a smear every feed or one poop a week.If it is soft when they go it is not constipation. Formula fed kids poop more often, but not always daily. If the kid is putting out hard dry stools I like full strength prune juice 1 oz @ 1-3X/d spaced out.It usually gets them loose in 3-4 days. Water is seldom worth the effort.
