A member asked:

At what point should i be seen by a doctor for possible acid reflux (or similar) problem? is there a certain number of consecutive days of symptoms, frequency of experiencing symptoms, particular symptoms that should concern me enough to make an appointm

A doctor has provided 1 answer

You define this: Reflux & its friends heartburn or indigestion are so common many just live with it. When/if it is burdensome enough that you cannot focus on work, miss work or find it difficult to control it is time to seek out at least a simple office consultation. The first line of treatment is the acid reducing agents, diet & behavior change. Invasive testing is seldom done unless therapy doesn't help.
