Some basics: A little lemon juice in a teaspoon of honey offers some basic help for a cough at that age.Studies in the US have found no help from OTC cough preparations at that age. Cough is a protective mechanism that allows the removal of mucus debris otherwise trapped in deep areas of the lung.

Temperature: For persistent cough and fever while on the antibiotic, please see your pediatrician. A follow up chest radiograph may be indicated. Cool air mist, nasal saline may be helpful. IF the Zarbees brand of children's cough syrup is available, this may be useful.
