Take him to a doctor: This is probably an infection, it could be caused by a bacteria or virus, this is very common in children. Usually for viral infection there's nothing to be donde but use medications for the fever and stay well hydrated. In case of a bacterial infection he needs antibiotics. Anyway a fever of 39.9 is too high and could cause seizures. He needs to be evaluated by a doctor as soon as possible.
