A member asked:

Using hand sanitizer due to covid precautions. does sanitizer leave a protective coating on hands, or only kills when wet but is all gone when dried?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hand washing guide: According to CDC guidelines, to avoid spreading 2019-nCoV or COVID, as well as all airborne pathogens, frequent hand washing is necessary. Generally washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds is sufficient, but if this is not available using a alcohol based sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content can work. Alcohol rapidly dries and evaporates so it's effect is short-lived.
