Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It is more likely that you have gastroesophageal reflux It you are overweight, it would help to lose weight. It would be prudent to see your doctor. Wish you good health!

No gum or soda pop!: First avoid chewing gum and carbonated drinks. These cause a person to swallow a lot of air and so lead to burping and maybe hiccups. See if that helps. If it does not see your doc because problems with your GI tract (liver or stomach) may be going on and your family doc (GP) can sort this out.
