Esophagitis: Suspect you have esophagitis (food tube inflammation/irritation). Sit up during eating, small bites, chew well, swallow water between bites. Oral antacids may help, or Gaviscon, which floats on top,of stomach acid. I suspect GERD (reflux of stomach acid) in the cause. Discuss this with your doc to determine if further work up is needed.
