Went to a and e with sudden chest pain. discovered i had pleurisy. chest x ray was fine, bloods were fine and ive had no recent infections or had the flu. what could be the cause of this pleurisy? 23 year old male. this happened 1 week ago

Pleural fluid: Chest xray could was not normal as it discovered the pleural effusion. Diagnosis is made on analysis of the pleural fluid. Make sure you follow up with a pulmonary specialist for elucidating the possible cause. Among others: pulmonary embolism, malignancies and autoimmune disorder are sometimes diagnosed.

Other cause: Another cause of chest pain at your age is musculoskeletal pain. Apply local heat and use ibuprofen for the pain. If the pain persists, then please follow up with your physician.
