A member asked:

Is it true that antiemetics will not work for severe vomiting from food poisoning because you're body is so desperate to get ride of what's making it sick that the vomiting reflex overrides the power of the antiemetic medication?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Still effective: After multiple vomiting episodes prescribing antiemetic medications, especially prescription ones, is definitely worthwhile. If these prove ineffective, hospitalization for IV fluid administration is mandatory to avoid or treat dehydration and other potential serious issues like electrolyte imbalance, kidney failure, etc.
