A member asked:

What happens if someone comes to the hospital dehydrated w/ bad vomiting from food poisoning & antiemetics dont work to stop it? what do they do then?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Vomiting.: Typically they’d start with an examination supported by blood testing and a CT scan to confirm the mechanism of illness and potentially entertain other diagnoses. They’d likely administer IV fluids and IV antiemetic if appropriate based on their potential diagnoses. They’d then to from there to try to diagnose and treat.
