Depends on cause: Bacterial type of sinusitis is treated with antibiotics to kill bacteria in the sinuses, a decongestant (often a combination such as Claritin-D or Zyrtec-D), and a steroid nasal spray such as Nasonex or Flonase to shrink some of the swelling inside the nose so the sinuses can properly drain. Persistent bacterial sinusitis symptoms may need longer courses of antibiotics and an ENT doctor's exam.
