I was diagnosed with tendinitis in my right arm this afternoon and given a cortisone and local anesthetic injection in the area of pain but the pain has gotten worse ?

Tendinitis: Have patience and give the corticosteroid medication a chance to work. However you could ask your prescriber to order an effective oral anti-inflammatory medication like indomethacin to provide more immediate relief of your pain if it's severe.
