A member asked:

Hi doctor. my baby is 15 days old, is it safe to offer him some water? (boiled and cooled)

Babies and water: Ask his pediatrician, because a normal new baby does not need to drink water. Babies should be offered breast milk, or formula, when thirsty. (In older babies, sometimes juice is used to help resolve constipation. Otherwise, juice is not needed. During periods of the stomach flu, Pedialyte may be tried if a baby is not tolerating breast milk or formula.)
