A member asked:

What conditions can cause factored ribs in infant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Baby rib fractures: Trauma is the common cause, but causes of rib fractures in infancy include trauma (including birth trauma), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), chest surgery, and chest physiotherapy, etc... Underlying conditions such as osteogenesis imperfecta, osteopenia of premature birth, rickets (vitamin D problems), and other dietary or metabolic problems increase a baby's risk of fractures.
