A member asked:

My son had a small insect bite on the side of his face 2 days ago. yesterday i his eye and cheek closest to the bite were a little swollen. this morning the swelling is so bad he cannot open his eye. i have given him allergex. should he see a doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: The tissues surrounding the eye swell easily after an insect bite & the swelling once started can last for days. If there is no change in the tissue color, pain or drainage it may pass in a few days. If the color darkens/turns red or purplish or the kid complains of pain it could suggest infection. If the kid has any eye pain with eye movement he should be seen.
