A member asked:

My daughter is 18 months and she struggles to eat, whenever she has to eat we have to run after her so as soon as we put food in her mouth she spits them out and when she decides to eat she only wants purity, it takes her more than an hour to finish?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor can evaluate: If a child is normal but won't eat what is served at mealtime, it usually means she is not hungry (if having ill symptoms, should see a doctor). If not ill, and is forced to eat when not hungry, she may just hold food in her mouth. It's the parents' role to offer age-appropriate food. It's the child's choice to eat it. Can help eating by keeping a child hungry, by giving no calories between meals.
